Overtime

Yes, the decision has been made to continue overtime, though not as intensely.  Read that as: only riding I will be doing this summer is of a slightly different 2 wheel variety.  75F outside, I am stuck in a test cell.

Memorial Weekend

First off, if you are a military person (or family member as theirs is as big of a sacrifice), thanks!

What a hot weekend.  Can't even count how much water/GU/Gatorade I drank.  Did two rides, one road on Saturday morning, the other trail on Monday morning.  Neither were terribly long but schedule, heat, and my current physical condition did not allow for long ones anyway. Put in hay on Saturday, "bush hog" on Monday.

It was nice at Lake Hope at 7:30am, though, watch for the mosquitoes!

13 days

It is nearly Memorial Day, meaning May is nearly to an end.  This has been an exhausting month for several reasons.  Mandatory overtime: this has really worn on the entire company, stress is high, tempers are short, mistakes are being made.  Brock turned 2! And, he got an ear infection for his birthday.  Michael turned 17! Soccer: season finale at the Marietta soccer classic.  A two day tournament with hours between games.   We (Alexander Soccer U12) played a total of four games, two on Saturday the 19th, two Sunday the 20th.  The final on Sunday ended in a loss in overtime.  Ethan and I did get to watch the end of the UEFA Finals when we stopped at MBC for some nachos though.  I broke the glass in my french press.  And now, school is out and the temperatures are headed into the 90s for the long weekend.  It has been 13 days off the bike until this morning.  I had left my truck at the office to get away on a much needed date with my wife (a great evening BTW starting with a burrito from Chipoltle, coffee from the Donkey, and a relaxing sit on the college green).  Instead of her driving all the way to town to bring me to work today, I had the excuse to ride my bike.  Nice ride, but the GPS radio in my Garmin Forerunner failed again.

UEFA!

10 days

First ride on any bike in 10 days.  10 days sure feels like a long time!  Tossed the Masi on the roof rack and hitched a ride with Shelly to drop Brock off before work and rode the rest of the way in.  Got 16 miles and never had to cross a highway.  Used my new Timbuk2 Lightbright Swig backpack.  Nice pack though not super big.  Just fits a change of clothes, towel, soap, sandals, and some breakfast.  I picked up the pack from DepartmentOfGoods when they had their 50% off sale only to find that it is not identical to the new model on Timbuk2's website, missing the airflow back and sternum strap.  I shot an email out to Timbuk2 customer service and they are going to send me the sternum strap for it.  I am up to 3 Timbuk2 bags, one for my laptop, one for Shelly (Snoop camera messenger) and now my bike backpack.  The above is one reason I buy Timbuk2.

The week in review and OSRS #7

First a quick review of the week. I did squeeze in an hour ride last Sunday, my only ride for the week. I also got to ride my motorcycle to work four of the five days.  Been a long time since that has happened. Put in another long week at the office and had to miss my weekly coffee get together.

My great aunt passed away Friday. She was a sweet, tiny woman that had a great attitude about life. Single mom, had very little in terms of material possession, but lived a rich life.

Spent Saturday in Logan for our final 2 games in the SOSL U12 youth soccer season. First game went ok, then had to spend 4 hours between games trying to entertain Brock, who is about to turn 2. Second game ended early when the other team's coach exploded on the ref, pulled his team off the field, even gave me a shove and said "don't tell me what to do" when I suggested, politely, to calm down. Yay competitive youth sports.

At least the Team Athens race at Lake hope (OSRS #7) went well despite flooding just a day earlier. I did not race as they needed volunteers more than they needed another Cat 5 racer. Rather, I drove follow truck for the men's Cat 1/2/3 race. I forgot the real camera so all you get are these bad cell pictures.

Have a great week.

Great day to ride bikes around the lake.

Cat 1/2/3 Men's main field turning onto Mine Hollow Road from St Rt 328.
