Normal

Yes, normal.  That was the description from the cardiologist following a 2d echo and an exercise stress test.  Still don't know for sure why I had such a long and severe round of premature atrial contractions, but she said there is nothing wrong and I can "do whatever I want".  That is a relief.  I am ready to get back at it.

Got to take a day off work this week and turn it into a day-cation with Shelly thanks to my folks whom kept Brock and Ethan overnight for us.  We went out for dinner (Casa) and dessert (Jackie O's) and even stayed out past 10pm!  Followed that up the following morning with coffee (Donkey) and breakfast (Village Bakery) before heading to the lake with the kayaks for a while.  Then off to the farmers market, lunch, and to pick up the kids.  Nice.  Even though we live together, we don't get to spend much time together.  We had planned to go to Davis WV and tent camp and hike for a couple days, but schedules and weather put an end to that.

Got a new pair of running shoes today too.  I have been wanting a shoe that helped me have a more natural foot strike. These Inov-8 Road X 255 shoes are supposed to help that transition with a minimal heel to toe drop. (Plus I got a killer deal on them from Steep and Cheap).  Hope to get them dirty tomorrow.

Enjoy the pictures.

Fathers day supper.  Yum.
Dessert at Jackie O's

Glad we weren't in a tent!

Guess we wore him out.

Quick, panic.

Yesterday we were warned of an impending complex of thunderstorms that would come in overnight, destroying everything in its path.  Folks around here panicked, remembering the derecho of 2012.  The Marathon gas station in Albany actually ran out of gas!  The storms came and have now past.  They were nasty, dumping huge amounts of rain in a short time, overflowing my rain gutters, outpacing the 24" culvert under my driveway, and cutting huge erosion scars into the driveway itself.  Kind of funny since I was just having a deep theological discussion with a co-worker about how water follows the path of least resistance, which in this case, happens to be my driveway.  So, if you are coming for a visit, bring the 4WD.

Rehab

The doctor has released me to my own rehab (for my foot anyway).  Starting with just some walking but should be jogging in another week.  Amazing how, though my broken bone doesn't hurt anymore, every muscle and tendon from my knee down does.

Shelly and Brock with me on a PT walk.
