Training

No training. I did get in a 24 minute ride on the indoor trainer this week. The rest of my time is spent blading snow off my driveway. At least when I get all the snow off, there is a great layer of ice below.

Must be the weekend

...Cause it is snowing. Took a short ride through about 8" of snow. Heck of a work out, HRM says I burned 851 calories in 5.4 miles!

Snow was so deep that my feet were diving in as I pedaled.

Anniversary

I got the chance to take a day off from work and spend the night away with my fabulous wife for our 15th wedding anniversary. We traveled up to Hocking Hills on Thursday night and checked in to our getaway chalet. Thanks to the Devol's! We stayed in Deer Run, owned and operated by Old Man's Cave Chalets. Highly recommended if you travel here.

From there, we went straight to the Inn at Cedar Falls for a fantastic dinner. The Inn is in an old dovetail log house. Enjoyed a great meal, salmon for me and fillet for Shelly, finished up with some dessert.

Back to our home for the day, we enjoyed watching AS Roma play Udenesi (I married an awesome woman for sure to watch Italian soccer on our anniversary!). Jumped in the hot tub after.

Had to head for home fairly early today, snow storm is on its way. Looking forward to the next 15 years.

Loop Turned into a One-Way

I have worked a lot this week. Thursday was a 15 hour day that started at 5am and was preceded and proceeded by 10 hour days. Katsu was planning to do a 60 mile ride, just did not think I could do it, at least not without slowing him down.

So I decided that after working at home through the morning, I would head out. I mapped a 30 mile loop through Wilkesville. Made it 18.75 miles and the ride ended with a flat. Where is my spare tube? Oh, in the wheel I put together just for the indoor trainer. I had a patch kit, yep used the last one on my other bike. Good thing I had cell service.

I did it. I joined Team Athens Cycling. Not sure how much I will contribute, at least in racing. Anyone else want in? Check out the site for application information.

New Year

Someone asked me last week what I did for fun. Wasn't sure how to answer to be honest. My resolution for next year is the remember how to have fun. In the meantime, I hit the roads a couple times for some snowy biking.
